FAQs

Do I need a referral from my physician?

We do not require a referral but many insurance companies do. Please check with your insurance company. If you have difficulty doing this, contact our insurance & billing office at 301-733-8060 so we can help assist you with this.

How do I find your office?

What can I expect when I arrive for my first appointment?

Please arrive 15 minutes before your appointment to ensure all paperwork is  completed. You will then meet with a physical therapist. Your therapist will take some medical history, perform an exam and then discuss the findings with you. You and your therapist will work together to develop a treatment plan along with goals for recovery. You will most probably be instructed on exercises to do at home. Doing your exercises every day can help to speed your recovery. You should allow one, to one and one-half hours, for your first evaluation appointment.

Should I wear special clothing?

It is preferable to wear or bring shorts, elastic waist band slacks or a sleeveless shirt but this is not necessary.

What should I bring with me?

Please bring your insurance card,  driver's license, (or picture ID), your referral (if you have one or if your insurance requires it) and a list of all your medications. Please print and complete the Patient Intake Sheet and bring it with you to your appointment.

Will my physical therapist communicate with my doctor?

Yes, a copy of your initial evaluation, periodic updates, and a discharge evaluation will be sent to your doctor. Please let us know when you have an appointment with your doctor so we can send an update to your doctor prior to your appointment.

How will I benefit from physical therapy?

Our goal at O’Neill Physical Therapy is to “Get you Back in Action”. You and your therapist will discuss your individual goals. Generally these include decreasing or eliminating your pain, returning to your normal activities and learning ways to prevent future problems.

What insurances do you accept?

We accept most major insurances. If you  have concerns, please feel free to call our billing/insurance office at 301-733-8060.

How much will my physical therapy cost?

Call the toll free number on your insurance card. They will be able to tell you what your physical therapy benefits are and explain your copays and deductible. If you have trouble getting this information you may call our insurance office at

301-733-8060 and we will call your insurance company.
